    This Greek word really has no equivalent in English, but it perfectly encapsulates something that we believe everyone should feel about their working life.

    It’s about those times when the morning alarm clock doesn’t fill you with dread and instead you leap up to attack the day. It’s about that moment when you stop, smile, realise a whole morning has flown past but you’ve been so enjoying your work it no longer feels like “a job”.

    Andrew Welsh

    Director

    Andrew is the Director and Founder of Meraki Talent. He has seventeen years’ experience of recruiting for the Financial Services Sector in Scotland and London and is passionate about building high performing recruitment teams who are, or aspire to be, experts within their chosen specialisms. Andrew’s extensive knowledge of the market and network has allowed him to develop an enviable track record in senior hiring and in the mobility of talent across the financial centres. He is often asked to provide advice to firms considering entering, or considering moving functions to Scotland, about the availability of talent within the Scottish market. He is a former Scotland U21 Rugby International and First Team player for Watsonians FC and East Kilbride RFC. Sadly his egg-chasing days are no more.

    Laura Drysdale

    Laura joins Meraki Talent as a Director with over 18 years recruitment and operational experience within the sector. Having previously been involved in the development of start-up businesses focusing on professional services in the UK, offshore and international jurisdictions, Laura is responsible for the strategy, growth and development of key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally within the company. As a passionate and experienced professional, Laura is well equipped to build and develop strong divisions with her reputable hands-on and proactive leadership style. Laura is an active networker and a winner of a prestigious “Young Business Person of the Year’ award as well as a winning mentor for the ‘Sir Winfried Bischoff Award’ supporting both Career Academies UK and the Edinburgh Guarantee programmes.

    Gordon Willmott

    Associate Director

    Gordon is an experienced recruiter and head hunter, with nearly a decade’s recruitment experience. He heads up the growing IT and Change division of Meraki Talent covering both the financial services and the commerce and industry space. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc degree in Pure Mathematics Gordon began his recruitment career recruiting for the industrial sector on a fast-paced temporary desk. From there Gordon moved onto the professional recruitment space recruiting temporary and interim appointments across Asset Management, Change and IT. Further progressing his career Gordon moved to a role with an established agency managing a financial services team across two offices covering multiple business and revenue streams. Meraki Talent was a long standing ambition to build a business targeting the ‘best in class’ recruiters, joined Meraki as one of the founding members heading up the IT and Change division in April 2015.

    As well as being a world class rapper Gordon is also a mentor for The Princes Trust in Scotland.

    Nicola Martin

    Associate Director

    Nicola has been responsible for establishing, leading and managing Meraki Talent’s International Accountancy business. Following her graduation from the University in Dundee with an LLB in Scots Law, Nicola commenced her recruitment career in 2009. On joining Meraki Talent Nicola transitioned her talent for making international placements in the Oil & Gas market to focus on international accountancy recruitment. Nicola has a dog named Floyd. He’s the only thing she loves more than recruitment.

    Sarah Galley

    Associate Director

    Sarah has over 13 years of experience working in the Edinburgh and Central Scotland recruitment market. A specialist in Business Support recruitment, Sarah covers a range of temporary, contract and permanent roles for Office Support, HR Support and Customer Operations. With a consultative approach when dealing with clients and candidates she is well known as an industry expert and the “go to” person for Executive PA hiring. Outside of work Sarah loves Yoga and Cats. But not in a crazy cat lady way.

    Chris Wilson

    Chris has been in recruitment since graduating from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Statistics. Chris spent the initial part of his recruitment career specialising in interim hiring for the Financial Services sector in Glasgow. On joining Meraki Talent Chris has focussed on the fast growing employment market for Risk & Compliance professionals in Scotland. Chris works with top-tier Banks, Life Companies, Wealth Managers and Fund Managers to help them source top Risk & Compliance talent. Chris is a former Scotland and Great Britain Ice Hockey player and still plays for the mighty Paisley Pirates.

    Nicola Goedkoop

    Principal Consultant

    Nicola has seven years recruitment experience and is one of the founding team at Meraki Talent. She is a key member of our International Accountancy & Finance division, focusing mainly on Audit & Tax. Nicola loves nothing more than building strong candidate relationships and her compassionate and warm approach means nearly all her candidates are referred to her by happy customers.

    Ashley Douglas

    Associate Consultant

    Ashley started her recruitment career in 2013 focusing on the Financial Services & Investment Banking market in Glasgow. She covered all aspects of temporary and permanent recruiting including CV writing, interview preparation, pre-employment screening and aftercare with candidates. Ashley joined the Meraki family in 2016 as the Business Support Manager before turning her attention to the International Accountancy & Finance team. She now specialises in Financial and IT Audit across France, Luxembourg and Switzerland – with a main focus on Big 4 and Top 10 firms. Outside of work Ashley can be found caring for her two dogs, and clapping every dog she sees. 

    Coco

    Coco has been with the business since inception and plays a vital role in our success. Acting as our very own Meraki Mascot, Coco is our team motivator and picks us up on even the toughest of days. “A ray of sunshine”, “a breath of fresh air”, “a pain in the…” are just some of the quotes our Consultants have used to describe her. When not raiding bins for food Coco is available for walks and cuddles.

    Ivan McGeorge

    Associate Director

    Ivan is a senior recruiter with over 17 years' experience covering a broad range of industries and sectors including financial services, oil & gas, professional practice, public/not for profit sectors and commerce & industry. Ivan specialises in “Head of”, “Director” and “Partner” level vacancies and has successfully managed a number of senior appointments on a retained basis, including roles up to and including Chief Executive level. Honesty and integrity underpins everything that Ivan does, and he values developing and maintaining long term relationships with candidates and clients alike. Ivan is ideally placed to help source your next senior appointment or supporting you in developing your career for the long term.     Jenna has been in the recruitment sector for seven years. She joined Meraki Talent initially as our Business Support Manager before deciding the rest of the team were having too much fun so she became a Consultant. Jenna is part of our International Accountancy team and has successfully helped Auditors find their next role in locations such as Bermuda, Malta, Switzerland and Ireland.

    Nathan is one of the founding team at Meraki Talent and is responsible for hiring in the Investment Management & Asset Servicing market in Scotland. He is passionate about building strong client relationships and has an unrivalled network across the investment operations market in Scotland. Nathan has a keen interest in financial markets and is currently studying towards his Investment Management Certificate with the CFA Society.

    Scott joins Meraki Talent with several years Recruitment experience behind him to date. Starting his career in Recruitment Advertising, Scott was responsible for a wide range of clients across the Private, Public and Education sector and handling the process from start to finish. After 7 enjoyable years, he then moved into Agency Recruitment where he has been for the last 5 and a half years. 2016 saw Scott join Meraki’s Marketing team and is excited about linking up with the talent in the business and progressing further with his career. With an understanding and personable nature, Scott is passionate about delivering an excellent service – both to clients and candidates alike. In his spare time, Scott can be found on the golf course or in the gym.

    Kim has joined the International Accountancy and Finance team at Meraki mainly focusing on Tax, VAT and Transfer Pricing.  She has 3 years previous in-house recruitment experience and has always been passionate about creating lasting client and candidate relationships. Kim loves to learn about different cultures which fuels her keen interest in travelling.

    Andrew Beattie

    Business Manager

    Andrew is an experienced recruiter who has extensive experience working within the financial services sector. After a brief stint at a global recruitment firm Andrew moved to a niche independent agency in Glasgow focusing upon recruiting qualified accountancy and finance personnel.

     After a successful year working with this firm, Andrew was approached about a role with another boutique recruitment business to focus on building their financial services presence in Scotland. Working across both Edinburgh and Glasgow, Andrew successfully built up the financial services proposition for the business focusing heavily upon the asset management, asset servicing, life and wrap industries on both a permanent and interim basis. After just over six years working within the same firm Andrew developed a strong network and an understanding of the industry around him. With a network within up and coming FinTech firms as well as the exiting global powerhouses of asset management and asset servicing, Andrew felt it was time for a new challenge and in July 2017 joined the Meraki Talent team.

     With a solid technical knowledge and understanding of the market and a sound network around him, Meraki Talent are delighted to have Andrew within the business. Not only focusing upon the industries he already specialises in, Andrew is additionally assisting Meraki Talent in broadening the wider financial services offering.

    Sarah Hutchinson

    Sarah joined the Meraki family in March 2018, having achieved an MSc in Business Psychology. She joined the Financial Services side of the company. Before working in recruitment, she worked in both Norway and Amsterdam and is well travelled, having lived in both China and The Philippines when younger. She is a keen foodie and loves to go to a trampoline fitness class on a Monday.

    Amanda Boyle

    Business Support Manager

    Amanda joined Meraki in July 2017 as Business Support Manager, having worked in recruitment support roles for the past 5 years. She is the first point of contact for the Glasgow office assisting with all office enquiries and ensuring all runs smoothly. She is mainly responsible for the pre-employment screening of all temporary & contractor workers, processing payroll, producing month end reports & invoicing…not to mention a whole host of other duties thrown her way.

    Kelly joined the International & Accountancy & Finance team with Meraki in March 2018.

    Her expertise lie within the External Audit arena in The Caribbean Islands. Working predominately with BIG 4 and Top 10 firms.

    Before life at Meraki, Kelly worked as a consultant for 2 years in a local recruitment agency in Glasgow.

    She has a passion for travelling and has been to many places including Thailand, India and the USA.

    Outside of work you will usually find her at local music events.
